An introduction to some of our valued European suppliers

By on 01:51

As will be obvious to anyone who has browsed through our earth friendly products, here at Yours Sustainably (http://www.yourssustainably.com) we really do support positive consumerism and responsible capitalism – and there are no limits to the parts of the world that we want to benefit. Why else would we have suppliers in such far-flung corners of the planet as Nepal, Bangladesh and South-East Asia? In today’s piece, however, we are giving consideration to certain suppliers of ours which are closer to home.

They do say that “charity begins at home”, and we take that to heart by using an extensive set of European suppliers. Not only are they involved in helping some of the most vulnerable people in society at a time when continent-wide austerity measures by governments are leaving them more ‘frozen out’ than ever, but they produce a wide range of stunning eco products that are sure to find a place in your home – from candles with unique and unusual scents to women’s tote bags and men’s cufflinks.

Consider, for example, A Short Walk, the Cornwall-based product design and manufacturing firm. The people behind A Short Walk really care about preserving and enjoying the environment, and to that end, have designed and developed an extensive range of eco friendly gifts, making the most of in-depth research into new recycled materials and processes. Available from this supplier in our store right now are stylish condiments pots made from upcycled wine bottles on a solid, slate-like base made from recycled coffee cups. Similarly made from recycled coffee cups is the week planner which consists of a clock and chalkboard, as well as a set of four chic rectangular placemats.

Another valued European supplier of ours is MAMMU, a fashion company assisting young Latvian mothers in need, and from which we presently stock a graphic jersey scarf with a design inspired by Soviet-era gymnastic outfits. Or if you’re an arty person with a taste for jewellery, why not check out the many handcrafted accessories of Zincwhite that make use of recycled Derwent colouring pencils? The duo behind Zincwhite, Lidia and Paul, take waste pencils straight from the factory and transform them into highly aesthetically appealing earrings, brooches, cufflinks and rings.

There are so many more European suppliers of sustainable gifts represented in our online store, including Revolve. With quirky products like its circuit board notebook made from reclaimed circuit boards that would have otherwise ended up in landfill or been incinerated, Revolve hopes to draw attention to the need to reduce, reuse and recycle. Or maybe you’d be interested in the fabric designs of Bonbi Forest, the brainchild of artist Lee May Foster, who uses more environmentally friendly water-based inks in her hand screen printing of each item?

As you can see, Yours Sustainably (http://www.yourssustainably.com) has a very considerable range of European suppliers from which it sources some of the finest eco gifts presently on the market.
